Alexandria Archaeology Museum

The Alexandria Archaeology Museum is located in the Torpedo Factory Art Center, on the waterfront in Old Town Alexandria, near many shops, restaurants, and other museums and historic sites. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.

From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria. The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Go about a mile, past Queen Street, and turn left on Cameron Street, opposite Christ Church. Go six blocks to the end, and turn right on North Union Street. The Torpedo Factory Art Center will be on your left. The Alexandria Archaeology Museum is on the third floor of the Art Center.

From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Take your first right onto Franklin Street, go ten blocks to the end, and turn left onto North Union Street. Go six blocks north, past King Street, and the Torpedo Factory Art Center will be on your right. The Alexandria Archaeology Museum is on the third floor of the Art Center.

By Metro
Take the yellow or blue line to King Street station. Cross the parking lot and turn right, one half block to King Street. Turn right (east) on King Street and walk about down hill about 1 1/2 miles to North Union Street. Turn left, and the Torpedo Factory Art Center will be on your left. The Alexandria Archaeology Museum is on the third floor of the Art Center. Or take the Dash Bus to King and North Royal Streets. By Train
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station, walk to your right to King Street and follow directions from Metro.

Alexandria Black History Museum

The Alexandria Black History Museum is located in the Parker-Gray Historic District, in the north-west quadrant of Old Town Alexandria. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.

From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria . The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Cross Montgomery and Madison Streets, and then turn right on Wythe Street. The Center is on the next corner, at Wythe and N. Alfred Streets. Park on Wythe Street.

From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Follow Route 1 (Patrick Street) about 1 1/2 miles. Cross Oronoco and Pendleton Streets, and then turn right on Wythe Street. Center is on the next corner, at Wythe and N. Alfred Streets. Park Wythe Street.

By Metro
Take the yellow or blue line to Braddock Road station. Walk across the parking lot and bear right until you reach the corner of West and Wythe Streets. Follow Wythe Street five blocks east. The Center is on the corner of Wythe and Alfred Streets.

By Train
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station, walk to your right. Take metro to Braddock Road Station and follow directions from metro.

Fort Ward Museum and Historic Site

Ample parking is available on site.

Fort Ward Museum is located on West Braddock Road between King Street (Route 7) and North Van Dorn Street in Alexandria, Virginia, approximately six miles south of Washington, D.C. The Museum and Historic Site are surrounded by a park.

From Old Town Alexandria
Follow King Street west to T.C. Williams High School, turn right on Kenwood Avenue. Turn left on West Braddock Road, and proceed about a mile. The Museum entrance is on the right.

From I-395 (north or south)
Take Seminary Road East exit and at the fourth traffic light (at Alexandria Hospital) turn left onto North Howard Street. Follow North Howard to its intersection with West Braddock Road and turn right. The Museum entrance is on the left.

From Washington, D.C. and National Airport
Follow road signs to I-395 South. Use I-395 directions to Museum. OR - Take the Metro from National Airport Metro station, and follow directions on how to reach Fort Ward by Metro.

From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Follow road signs to I-395 South. Use I-395 directions to Museum.

From Dulles Airport
Take Dulles Access Road East to I-495 South (Capital Beltway). Follow road signs to I-395 South. Use I-395 directions to Museum.

By Metro Rail, then Bus
Take the Yellow or Blue Line to King Street Station. The AT5 DASH bus to Landmark stops in front of Fort Ward. Call (703) 370-DASH for bus schedules and information.

By Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express
Walk across the the street from the ALexandria Union Station to the King Street Station to catch DASH bus. See above.

Go about a mile, past Queen Street, and turn left on Cameron Street, opposite Christ Church. Go three blocks and turn right on North Royal Street. Gadsby's Tavern Museum is located on the right, next to Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant.

The Lyceum is located in Old Town Alexandria, near many shops, restaurants, and other museums and historic sites. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.

From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria . The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. After you cross King and Prince Street (about one mile), the Lyceum will be on your right.

From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Follow Route 1 (Patrick Street) about one mile. Turn right on Prince Street; turn right on South Washington Street. The Lyceum on your right.

By Metro
Take the yellow or blue line to King Street station. Cross the parking lot and turn left, one half block to Prince Street. Turn left (east) on Prince Street and walk about one mile to Washington Street. Turn right, and the Lyceum will be on your right. Or take the Dash Bus to King and Washington Streets, turn right and walk one block past Prince Street. By Train
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station, walk to your right to King Street and follow directions from Metro.

The Friendship Firehouse Museum

Free parking for visitors is available at The Lyceum, two blocks away at 201 S. Washington Street.

The museum is located in Old Town Alexandria, near many shops, restaurants, and other museums and historic sites. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.

From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria. The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Turn right on King Street (one mile) and left on S. Alfred Street (the first left). The museum is on your right.

From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge). Follow Route 1 (Patrick Street) about one mile. Turn right on Prince Street; turn left on S. Alfred Street. The museum is on your left.

By Metro
Take the yellow or blue line to King Street station. Walk down King Street about seven blocks to S. Alfred Street. Turn right, and the museum will be on your right. Or take the Dash Bus to King and S. Alfred Streets, turn right and the museum will be on your right.
