| Female reenactors portraying civilians in camp add
another dimension to living history programs at Fort Ward. |
|
To comply with City of Alexandria insurance and liability regulations for
after-hours use, overnight campers must provide their names and vehicle registrations
to Fort Ward staff prior to the event. Click
here for the overnight camping form.
City of Alexandria police will be asked to make periodic patrols of the Park
grounds during overnight camping events. The City of Alexandria and Fort
Ward Museum staff are not responsible for the personal safety of, or the
property belonging to, overnight campers.
Restroom facilities, water and firewood are provided to campers. One camp
fire per unit is allowed. Pits should be dug by carefully rolling sod aside
so that it can be replaced once the fire is doused. Units are responsible
for extinguishing fires and cleaning up the camp fire area. Fires should
not be left unattended.
The consumption of alcoholic beverages and the use of illegal drugs is prohibited.
Reenactors should not bring personal pets to Fort Ward. The only exception
is service animals for assistance with medical conditions.
For individuals who do not wish to camp, but who want to remain in the
area overnight, please consult with the Museum staff for recommendations
on nearby hotels.
