Standing at attention
Standing at attention

In the event of a serious medical situation or injury, call 911 for an ambulance or request that a Museum staff member do so. For non-emergency medical situations, you may request help from Fort Ward Museum staff members, who will either provide a first aid kit for your use or information on where to seek medical treatment. Inova Alexandria Hospital is located less than a mile from Fort Ward.

Especially in the summer, inclement weather such as severe thunderstorms or tornado warnings occur. Seek shelter inside the Museum or, if not possible, in your vehicle. Fort Ward Museum is equipped with a severe weather warning system and may be able to inform participants of imminent bad weather. The Museum staff reserves the right to cancel an event due to weather conditions. Please use common sense in dressing for the weather and/or seeking shelter. We suggest consulting weather forecasts before leaving home. In cases of extreme heat, cold water and shade are available at the Museum building.
Police and fire assistance is available by calling 911.

More programming can take place inside and outside of the Officers’ Hut, thanks to recent renovations and interpretive updates.
