Civil War Kids' Camp

Fort Ward Museum’s Civil War Kids’ Camp is a week of learning and fun for boys and girls ages 8 to 12. Participants explore the lives of Civil War soldiers and civilians with marching, drilling, reenactor guest appearances, games, crafts and other activities. Enthusiasm for history is desired, and kids who work well in groups tend to have the most fun at the camp.

Civil War Kids’ Camp is held the last week of June and is limited to 24 participants. Spaces fill quickly; applications are accepted on a first-come basis beginning January 2, 2008.

Campers should dress for the weather, including wearing shoes that are suitable for drilling and marching. Although we plan for indoor activities in the event of pouring rain or unhealthful air quality days, much of what we do will be outside. Healthy snacks are provided, but each camper is responsible for bringing a picnic lunch daily.

For more information or for a registration form, please contact the Museum at 703-838-4848.
