The Virginia Glass Company (1894-1916) was located by archaeologists near Duke Street. After extensive excavation, recordation and research, the project resulted in knowledge of the glass production process. Alexandria was a major bottle manufacturer at the turn of the 20th century, and the archaeology at this site yielded a glass typology for the company and increased understanding of the role of industry in Alexandria.
