Jones Point Trek

5. The Margaret Brent Memorial
The Margaret Brent Memorial commemorates this outspoken woman (1601-1676), often referred to as America's first litigator, who secured a 700-acre patent in 1654 which included Jones Point. Extending from Great Hunting Creek to Queen Street, the land was also patented to Robert Howson in 1669. When the Howson patent was transferred to John Alexander for 6,000 pounds of crop tobacco, he was forced to also pay Brent's heirs for clear title.
