Alexandria Artifact Stories

Founded in 1784 - Serving our Town for More than 200 Years

From 1994 until 1997, the Alexandria Gazette Packet published the Alexandria Artifact Stories as a regular feature in the weekly newspaper. They are posted by permission of the Alexandria Gazette Packet (ISSN: 1066-6273). The stories are authored primarily by Pamela Cressey, the City Archaeologist, as well as other members of the City of Alexandria, Office of Historic Alexandria.

The aim of the newspaper articles is to take a small piece of a cultural heritage and examine it in a wider context to understand and appreciate its significance.font>

In most cases, the Alexandria Artifact Story contains its original photograph or line drawing. Anyone interested in more information, please call the Alexandria Archaeology Museum at 703-838-4399 and ask to talk to Pamela Cressey.
