ACCESSIBILITY:
The main exhibit area and museum store on the first floor of the site are
fully accessible to those with mobility impairments. A video program is available
on the first floor for those unable to visit the second floor.The City of
Alexandria complies with the terms of ADA. An individual with a disability
who wishes to request a reasonable accommodation may contact the museum.
DIRECTIONS:
The Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary Shop is located in the heart of Old Town
Alexandria, near many shops, restaurants, and other museums and historic
sites. Alexandria is half-way between Washington, D.C. and Mount Vernon.
From Washington, D.C., and National Airport
Take the George Washington Parkway south, past the airport, into Alexandria.
The Parkway becomes Washington Street in the City. Go about a mile, past
Queen Street, and turn left on Cameron Street, opposite Christ Church. Go
four block, past City Hall,, and turn right on North Fairfax Street. Go one
block, past King Street, and the museum will be on your right.
From I-95/I-495 (Capital Beltway)
Take the US Route 1 North exit (first exit on the Virginia side of the Woodrow
Wilson Bridge). Take your first right onto Franklin Street, go seven blocks
and turn left onto South Fairfax Street. Go five blocks north, past Prince
Street, and the museum will be on your left.
By Metro
Take the yellow or blue line to King Street station. Cross the parking lot
and turn right, one half block to King Street. Turn right (east) on King
Street and walk about down hill about 1 mile South Fairfax Street. Turn right,
and the museum will be on your right. Or take the Dash Bus to King and North
Fairfax Streets. Call (703) 370-DASH for bus schedules and information, or
check the schedules posted at the station.
By Train
Take Amtrak or Virginia Railway Express to Alexandria's Union Station (across
the tracks from King Street Metro station). Upon exiting the train station,
walk to your right to King Street and follow directions from Metro.

PARKING:
Metered Parking is available in front of the museum, with two or three hour
parking on nearby residential streets. Parking regulations are strictly enforced.
A free 24-hour parking pass, valid at meters, is available to out-of-town visitors
at Ramsay House Visitors Center (open daily from 9 am to 5 pm) at 221 King
Street. There are also convenient parking garages nearby. The closest garage
is one block away on North Fairfax Street, under Market Square.
BUS UNLOADING AND PARKING:
Unloading only: Two motor-coach spaces are reserved on King
Street (north side, west bound) from the corner of Fairfax Street to the center
of the Market Square. Buses may not remain in this location during the museum
visit.
Bus Parking: Buses may park in front of Robinson Terminal on Union
Street at Oronoco Street (east side, north bound). This location is four blocks
north of King Street, and seven blocks from the museum.
